Meet the Author behind the change – Dawn Pretorius
Dawn Pretorius is a single mother of two sons and three grandchildren. She has developed a deep sense of responsibility to unveil the wrongdoings in the world of money.
She believes we need professionals and interested people to tackle the challenges of the laundering of billions of dollars, which increase exponentially from one year to the next. It also widens the gap between the haves and the have-nots, despite all the efforts of legislation, compliance resources in financial institutions, law enforcement, justice systems, and technology designed to combat this scourge. Inequality in society is pervasive and damages economies. She is passionate about setting the tone to make a difference. The world, after all, has the skills, the resources, the intelligence, and the knowledge to bring about change.
Political will is needed.
Dawn is no stranger to being a published author. Her first book, ‘Beyond Play: A Down-To-Earth Approach to Governance, Risk and Compliance’, published in 2014 was a resounding success and now she is at it again, with ‘The Shepherds of Inequality and the Futility of Our Efforts to Stop Them’. Dawn Pretorius is well versed in the financial world, with more than twenty years of experience running her own consultancy business focusing on governance, risk, and compliance for financial services. Her practice is registered with the Financial Sector Conduct Authority in South Africa. She also had a successful career in the corporate world focused on banking from various perspectives, ranging from wealth management, international investment opportunities, estate, and trust planning. She not only manages a business, and writes books but also lectures on these aspects. Her qualifications include a Master’s Degree in Commerce, B.Tech in Banking, and a Wits Business School Management Advancement Program. She also holds a variety of other certificates and is a Fellow of the Institute of Bankers of South Africa.
